🌿How We Make a Difference
Our lab brings together nurses and collaborators from many fields to understand and improve how students feel and cope every day. In doing so, the lab:
Investigates irritability and difficulties in emotion regulation as indicators of mental health vulnerability in college students, advancing understanding of these transdiagnostic symptoms that impact student success, health, and functioning.
Focuses on closing the gaps in college mental health care by increasing awareness, fostering positive attitudes toward help-seeking, and breaking down barriers related to mental health stigma among college students.
Integrates mindfulness-based practices as evidence-based interventions to promote self-regulation, stress reduction, and emotional well-being.
Examines social determinants of health and their influence on emotional well-being, with particular attention to underserved and marginalized student populations.
Provides mentored research experiences for undergraduate and graduate students, cultivating the next generation of nurse scientists and mental health researchers.
