Emotional Health Lab is dedicated to advancing mental health promotion and innovation by developing accessible, evidence-based tools to support emotional well-being among college students and young adults.
A Message About Mental Health & Well-Being
Mental health challenges affect nearly one in three college students, yet fewer than half of those experiencing symptoms seek the support they need. Too often, embarrassment, fear of judgment, and the weight of stigma keep students from reaching out, even when help could make all the difference.
We believe that seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness. Just as we care for our physical health, attending to our emotional well-being is essential for thriving in college and beyond. Mental health struggles, whether feelings of overwhelming stress, persistent irritability, anxiety, or depression, are not personal failings. They are common human experiences that deserve compassionate, evidence-based care.
Our lab is committed to breaking down the barriers that prevent students from accessing mental health support. Through research that examines the complexity of students' daily lives, we work to understand how emotions unfold in real time, identify those who may be struggling silently, and develop innovative approaches that meet students where they are — without shame, without stigma, and without judgment.
If you or someone you know is facing emotional challenges, please remember: you are not alone, your feelings are valid, and support is available. Reaching out is the first step toward healing, and every step matters.

About our LAB
